Going Away

T day!

Note: I think its time to explain this "T" stuff I've started each post with for those of you too young to remember. We used to listen to all of the space launches - for the Mercury and Gemini launches, and even some of the Apollo launches - on our transistor radios in school. Which was a big deal, because usually you weren't allowed to bring your radio to school, let alone listen to it in class. The announcers would always announce how much time remained until the launch by using the "T-n" terminology, where n was the number of days, hours or minutes until the "Time".

We are Gone, May, 2012

Okay, then. This afternoon we head to JFK, and assuming all goes well, we'll pick up our rental car in Denver and spend tonight there before heading to Rapid City Tuesday morning. We spend yesterday, Mothers Day, at our son's where we were supposed to have a barbecue lunch with the whole family. Unfortunately on of the little granddaughters decided to start throwing up last night, so our daughter's family stayed in isolation at their house. We had great ribs anyway, the weather was once again awesome, and It was great seeing the kids.

I spent the end of the afternoon finishing packing, and checking off all of the items on my lists as they were confirmed to be either in or on top of a bag. This afternoon we'll finish the job, close up the house, and take off.

Today we are in New Jersey, tomorrow Colorado. The next post will be from the road.
